Let’s look at the best way to use Google Keep. ![]() If you were wondering: “how do I use Google Keep”, you will find answers here. There is a free app for both Apple and Android devices, but there are rumours that Google will stop supporting the app in 2022 and that Google Keep will become a web-based product only. It is also an excellent organisational tool as you can organise your notes by labels. Google Keep can connect to your other Google products, including Google Slides, Google Drive and Google Docs if you log in with your Google email address. Google Keep is a free note app provided by Google. Hopefully, you will now use the app better on your mobiles. How To Use the Google Explore Feature What is Google Keep? Those were the top 10 tips you should be aware of as a Google Keep user. It’s a neat trick if you’re in a hurry and don’t have to time to open the app and type it. Say OK Google or hit the mic button and say “Take a Note” and then, dictate your actual note to it. You can easily jot down notes through Google Voice. To start doodling on Google Keep hit the tiny “pen” icon situated on the bottom bar, a blank page will open up where you can sketch, change pen colors, thickness and more. The interface is absolutely fantastic and accurate. If typing isn’t your cup of tea, you can even draw your notes. You will be then redirected to maps and from there, Google will ask you to the lock the location where you want to be reminded. To set them, head over to a note and click the “remind me” area that will reveal a drop-down that lets you switch between Time reminder and Location reminder. Other than setting time-dependent reminders, Keep even features location-based reminders that will trigger as soon as you are nearby the desired place. After accessing the trash from the left drawer, you can either delete a note completely or recover through the three dots menu available on top. Google Keep has a Trash folder from where you can access notes that were deleted 7 or fewer days before. That means you will get notification on your computer and phone once the reminder reaches due period. Once you set an reminder from the finger icon on the bottom of the note, Google automatically syncs this with the Now service. Google Keep also offers reminders for your notes that gets integrated with Google Now. If you want to put something important on the top, you can do so by dragging individual entries to the top. By default, Google Keep arranges notes by last modified attribute. Hold and drag to reorder notesĭespite being a basic feature, a lot of Keep users are still unaware of the drag and drop trick to reorder their notes. The OCR feature works best with business cards and can be really useful if you don’t want to install any additional applications. The app will display the text in the note itself after processing the image. Head over to an image note and on the top right corner, locate the three dots and tap “Grab Image Text” option. From our testing, we did not find it as accurate as “OneNote”, but it gets the work done. Google Keep also supports OCR functionality that lets you read and store text from an image. This unfortunately also means that you cannot share reminders, a much needed feature. Colors, reminders, archiving still remains with you. Note that your colleague with whom you have shared the note, can only update the note contents. The process remains same, you share the note with the person and he/she can start editing in the real time as soon as they hit the link. Just like Google’s office suite, you can collaborate with your colleagues on Keep too. First, open the Keep on desktop, Press Ctrl+A to select all notes and then click Copy to Google Doc from the 3-dot more menu. This feature can also be used to backup all your notes. You can export individual or combine multiple notes as a single Doc. The feature makes a new doc file every time you export and doesn’t allow copying to an existing document, which I hope Google brings in future updates. You can then perform complex edits (like inserting a table) from the Google Doc interface. Google allows you to directly export the Keep note as Google Doc in your Drive account. ![]() ![]() ![]() (Image credit: ITV) Doc Martin season 10 episode guide John Marquez is again playing PC Joe Penhale, Jessica Ransom is the doctor’s receptionist Morwenna Newcross and Selina Cadell is the local pharmacist Mrs Tishell.ĭoc Martin guest star Ben Miller as Stewart. It's unclear exactly what happens in the scene but there's also a shot of a woman at the bottom of the cliff. "He begins to question whether he’s made the right decision about resigning!" "The Doc resigned in the last series, and when we start the new season, he’s left holding the baby – literally! – as he and Louisa have had a second child, daughter Mary Elizabeth" explains Martin Clunes. But does he really want his old job back? With Louisa pursuing her new career as a child counsellor in his old surgery, the Doc is left literally holding the baby, and indulging his hobby of repairing clocks on the kitchen table. He and wife Louisa have also welcomed a baby daughter, Mary Elizabeth, a sister for four-year-old James Henry, so we're guessing their household will be pretty raucous in this series. Generally, locations within five to ten miles (9 to 18 km) of salt water are at risk for corrosion by sea salts. ![]() The distance salt is carried can vary significantly with local weather patterns. It is carried inland by wind, rain and fog. Sea salt contains a mixture of salts including sodium chloride, calcium chloride, and magnesium chloride. Generally, locations within five to ten miles of salt water are considered at risk for chloride-related corrosion, however the distance airborne salt is carried can vary significantly depending on wind patterns, even up to and above 50 miles inland. Stainless steel pitting corrosion Salt in rainwaterĬhlorides in airborne sea spray, rain, and dry salt particles carried by wind may cause pitting and rusting of stainless steels, unless a sufficiently corrosion resistant grade like A4 (316) is chosen. In most cases it should not affect the mechanical properties of the stainless steel but it will show brown rust stains which can effect the attractiveness of the steel and any material that it has contact with. It is similar to pitting but over a larger area or whole area where the ability of the passive layer has been attacked by the environmental conditions. However stainless steel can also become subject to crevice corrosion when the deposits creates a “crevice” on the surface. It usually occurs in very tiny dark brown pits on the surface. When stainless steel corrodes, it is normally in the form of “pitting”corrosion, when the environment penetrates the stainless steel’s passive layer film normally when the film has been damage through scratching or machining. ![]() Stainless steel will, however, corrode under certain conditions but not the same type of flaking corrosion that carbon steel has. The addition of molybdenum (2% minimum) in A4 (316) further increases this passivity layer range and further improves corrosion resistance, in particular with acetic, sulphuric, and sulphurous acids and in neutral chloride solutions including sea water. The addition of nickel to the structure, 8% minimum in A2 (304) and 10% minimum in A4 (316), increases the passive layer and therefore corrosion resistance. This is a very thin layer and will be subject to corrosion if it is removed by scratching or machining. The 10.5% chromium in stainless steel means iron with the stainless steel is changed to produce an oxide that resists further oxidation and forms a passive layer on the surface. Carbon steel corrosion How stainless steel resists corrosion Rusting creates a layer of oxide on the surface that is several times thicker than the original iron present and often results in a spalling or flaking of the surface, reducing the steel thickness and therefore its strength. It is the iron in carbon steel that reacts with the oxygen in the atmosphere to produce “iron-oxides” which we can see as “red rust” on the steel surface. It is these alloying elements added to the iron base that makes stainless steel very different from carbon steel. A4 (316) contains an additional element, molybdenum, from 2 to 3%. The 300 series stainless steel grades, A2 (304) and A4 (316) contain nickel from 8 to 14% in addition to the chromium that must be present. Stainless steel also contains iron, but in addition it must contain at least 10.5% chromium and the carbon content is very low, usually 0.08% maximum. The higher the carbon content, the stronger the steel. How is stainless steel different from carbon steel?Ĭarbon steel contains at least 95% iron with up to 2% carbon. A4 (Grade 316), has an addition of at least 2% molybdenum, which significantly increases the A4 (316) metal’s resistance to “salt” corrosion. There are now over 50 stainless steel different grades and a lot are know by their AISI numbering system (200, 300 & 400 grades).Ī2 (Grade 304 – 18% chromium, 8% nickel), is the most common of the 300 series and has corrosion resistance in most applications but is vulnerable to salt water. Chromium is added during the melting of the steel and forms a mixture with the iron and other alloying elements, such as nickel and molybdenum, which improves the metal’s resistance to corrosion. Since its development elements have been added to stainless steel to increase the chromium content in order to improve its corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel is the name given to iron based alloys that contain at least 10.5% chromium. ![]() ![]() ![]() International Journal of Learning, Teaching and Educational Research, (13)1, 29-41.Įspinosa, A. However, I learned from Belkin that the threshold was set at just 50Mbps, basically fast enough to deliver a moderate residential broadband connection. The mobile app has a test function that helps determine the optimal distance between nodes. In my trial, I got full speed at up to 25 feet away by 50 feet, I got about half the speed, and the farther out I ventured, the slower the connection between nodes would get. This means the Velop only has to deal with signal degradation over distance. This minimizes the effect of signal loss, which is the 50 percent efficiency reduction that always occurs if a band has to both receive and rebroadcast the Wi-Fi signal at the same time. The system dedicates one 5GHz band for backhaul, the job of linking the nodes together. What makes the Velop better than the Google Wifi is the fact that each unit is a tri-band dual stream (2x2) router with two 5GHz bands (867 megabits per second each) and one 2.4GHz band (400Mbps). In my trial, the Velop's install process took a bit longer than with Google Wifi but if you've used a smartphone before, you will likely be able to set up all three units in less than 20 minutes. Keep in mind that, like the case of the Google Wifi, your home network powered by the Velop will stay connected to Linksys at all times. Just download the Linksys app, follow the instructions to register and log in with a Linksys account the rest is self-explanatory. The setup process is easy as long as you have smart phone, and like many other mesh routers, there are no alternative set up options like a web interface. ![]() ![]() The plastic used feels of good quality, and the buttons on the soundbar have a tactile feeling that does not have a mushy bottom out. When it comes to build quality, both the soundbar and the subwoofer are pretty well constructed. I found that the panel is quite sensitive to micro-scratches. There is a display panel in the middle of the soundbar to let you know the mode that it is in, and also houses two beam-forming microphones. You can check out a size comparison between the 13-inch MacBook Air below. At around 12cm thick, you should be able to find some space to slot between your TV console or under your desk. I like how the RGB lighting is done on the Katana V2X as it offers a subtle undertone that is not in your face. Since it is a gaming soundbar, you have RGB lighting on the Katana V2X which is implemented in the form of a diffused bar that will glow under the soundbar. Personally, I prefer the look of the Katana V2X as I am not a fan of devices with brushed aluminium, but of course your preference may vary. Instead of the brushed metallic finish found on the V2, the V2X has a more matte finish with a dark grey colour. There is a slight design difference on the top of the soundbar of the Katana V2X compared to the V2. The top of the soundbar also reveals the two upwards firing speakers. ![]() The Katana V2X is slightly angled upwards, with the ends of the soundbar flared outwards. And the length of 60cm is roughly the same as the length of a 27-inch monitor. At just 6cm tall, it can definitely fit under all monitors. The size of the Katana V2X is actually quite compact. Instead, the Katana V2X feature distinct angled edges, as its name suggest, to resemble a katana. ![]() Since the Katana V2X is marketed as a gaming soundbar, it didn’t go with the typical modern boxy looky such as on the Creative Stage. The V2X soundbar outputs combined 10W RMS on the tweeters compared to 26W RMS on the V2, despite both having same sized tweeters. ![]() Although it looks like it is just the soundbar that has been switched out, the soundbar of the V2X is actually different from that of the V2. Super X-Fi, SXFI Battle Mode, Acoustic Engine via the Creative app, Scout Mode, CrystalVoiceĪs you can tell, there are only 2 key differences between the V2 and V2X, and that is (1) price, and (2) overall audio output power. In fact, the new Sound Blaster Katana V2X soundbar is a cheaper version of the V2, for people looking for a smaller subwoofer and a lower price. But do not mistaken the newer V2X to be an upgrade of the V2. And about a year later, we have a new Sound Blaster Katana V2X.
